WOODBURN PUBLIC ARTS AND MURALS COMMITTEE MINUTES FROM THE JANUARY 16, 2019 MEETING Roll Call: Sharon Schaub-Chair, Brenda Valentino-Bravo, Sharon Corning, Merri Berlin, Kristi St. Amant, Chris Lopez, Colleen Vancil, Judy Massaia Absent: Mary Beth Cornwell Staff: McKenzie Granum, Jamie Johnk, Chris Kerr, Maricela Guerrero • Approval of November 14, 2018 Meeting Minutes: Kristi made a motion to approve; Merri seconded. Motion passed 8-0. • Committee Policies & Procedures Recap and Staff Roles: McKenzie provided a review of Ord. 2555 and discussed the broad role of the Public Arts and Mural Committee and the role that staff provides to the Committee. • Committee Regular Meeting: Sharon C. moved to change the time of the regular Public Arts and Mural Committee meetings to 4:00 p.m. on the 3rd Wednesday of each month and to move the meetings to the Woodburn Art Center (2551 Boones Ferry Road); Kristi seconded. Motion passed 7-1. • Nomination and Appointment of Committee Vice-Chair: Sharon C. nominated Merri Berlin. Chris nominated Colleen. Candidates provided an overview of their background and interest in Woodburn’s public arts program. A vote of the Committee was held for the Vice-Chair position: Merri received four votes (including Mary Beth’s proxy vote); Colleen received five votes. Chris moved to appoint Colleen as the Vice-chair; Judy seconded. Motion passed 8-0. • Water Tower Art: Chris K. shared a draft of the Citizen Involvement Plan, which would be a guiding outline on committee projects. The Committee discussed the Plan and made recommendations specific for the Water Tower Project. Kristi moved to approve the Citizen Involvement Plan for the Water Tower Projects with the recommended edits; Colleen seconded. Motion passed 8-0. Staff shared the last design concept for the Water Tower Project. The Committee would like to present 3 to 4 design concepts for public input. Based on Committee feedback, staff will prepare recommended design concepts for the next regular meeting. ---PAGE BREAK--- WOODBURN TOURISM ADVISORY COMMITTEE MINUTES FROM THE JANUARY 16, 2019 PAGE TWO • Downtown Plaza Art: Staff shared last communication with the artist. Sculpting is moving forward and there is nothing significant to share at this meeting. • Selfie Wall: After discussion, the Committee has deemed that this project would be best suited for the tourism committee. • Public Art and Mural Master Plan: Staff discussed the need to develop a 3 to 5 year plan for the Public Arts and Mural Committee, which would assist in future project development. Staff will bring additional details to the next meeting. • Next Meeting: February 20, 2019 – 4:00 p.m. at Woodburn Art Center, 2551 Boones Ferry Road • Adjourned: Kristi moved to adjourn the meeting; Sharon C. seconded.
