Volunteer Position Description Aquatic Activity Leader The City of Woodburn is seeking an energetic high school student to organize water games during the Woodburn Aquatic Center’s Open Swim. Group water games facilitate community building and creates a fun and safe environment for the community to Splish • Splash • Live • Learn! Duties: Work with Aquatic Programs Supervisor to plan a variety of water games and activities for a variety of ages. Play games such as obstacle course race, Marco Polo, ring dive, sharks and minnows, water basketball, water volleyball, water polo, other races, Simon says, rock wall, tag, and keep away. As activity leader you must be able to adapt games to the needs and abilities of participants and create a safe, fun environment where people of all ages are welcome to join. Other activities include greeting patrons and invite them participate in games, supervise games to ensure fair play, when appropriate engage in games. Qualifications: All volunteers must complete a City of Woodburn Volunteer Application, background check (18yrs+), and orientation. Leaders must be friendly, outgoing, active, dependable, and have a desire to help others. Spanish language is useful. Time Commitment: Weekly flexible hours for at least one season (i.e. summer, fall, etc.). Compensation: Students will gain valuable real life experience working for a government organization that they will be able to use on college and job applications. Hours spent at working for the City of Woodburn may also be used for Senior Projects and/or volunteer hours. Students who perform well may obtain a letter of recommendation or a reference from City staff.
