Youth Advisory Board (YAB) Member Purpose: The City of Woodburn is seeking community-minded students who are passionate about giving back to their community to participate in the Youth Advisory Board. YAB will participate in a variety of projects and festivals throughout the year to raise money for local charities and scholarships and to provide community services. Reports to: YAB Advisor Responsibilities: • Attend bi-weekly meetings. • Help plan community service projects and fundraising activities. • Be available to schedule your participation in other community events throughout the year. • Come to events enthusiastic and ready to get to work! Your services may be used for anything from playing games, face painting and entertaining to cleaning, organizing and managing. Qualifications: • All volunteers must complete a Youth Advisory Board application. • Students must have a positive attitude and be ready to take initiative. Time Commitment: Meetings are twice and are held at the Woodburn Police Department every other Wednesday at 7:30pm. Community service hours will depend on the amount of activities students choose to participate in. Compensation: Students will gain valuable real life experience volunteering for a government organization that they will be able to use on college and job applications. Hours spent at volunteering for the City of Woodburn may also be used for Senior Projects and/or required volunteer hours. Students who perform well may obtain a letter of recommendation or a reference from City staff member and potentially the mayor. Revised 10/2015
