BUSINESS FROM THE AUDIENCE This portion of the agenda allows the public to introduce items for Board consideration not already scheduled on the agenda. 5. NEW BUSINESS • Park and Recreation and Park Board Ordinance Change A. Refer to the attached staff reports. 6. OLD BUSINESS a. Community Center • The measure has been referred and approved by the Marion County Elections office following City Council referral. • All City marketing items, including: video, social media post, website and mailers. A. Informational mailers will be sent out at the beginning of October, mid-October, and end of October. b. Centennial Park Dog Park City of Woodburn Recreation and Park Board MINUTES Woodburn City Hall October 8, 2024 6:00pm ---PAGE BREAK--- • The project has seen a significant delay due to staffing shortages throughout the summer. • Currently all grating work, pathways and shelter have been installed along with top soil and seeding. While seed is growing in staff will continue with the instillation of benches, drinking fountain, solar lights, dog play features and fire hydrants. A. Hopes to reopen the park near the end of October. c. Boones Crossing Park • The decision was approved by the parks board to place the project on hold to apply for Local Government Grant funding, which was paid off with a grant award of $698,167.00. (Grant agreement pending) A. Staff are continuing to work on the construction documents with DLA and hope to go out to bid in the coming months with an expectation that construction should start in Spring. 7. DIVISION REPORTS FROM DEPARTMENT a. Aquatics • Largest summer attendance since Covid-19. • Fall A. Doubled the number of swim lessons being offered. B. Added a palaties class C. Still in the process of hiring following the college students leaving. - In process of training many new staff. D. Possibly looking at parking lot improvements due to roots depending on Community Center Bond. • Closure Week A. Retiled, painted restrooms and showers and other maintenance items. • Spooky Splash October 26, 2024 b. Recreation • Summer A. Summer was smooth with typical attendance at Taste of Woodburn and Music in the Park. B. Saw an increase in attendance at July 4th, est. 6,000 attendees. C. Camps all camps seemed to go well with strong attendance. Camps included: Basketball, Volleyball, Safety Camp and Multisport Camp. D. Fall - Youth Sports going well with decent participation: i. YMCA 1. Flag Football – 23 ---PAGE BREAK--- 2. Volleyball – 28 3. Fall Basketball registration still open: 90 registered. ii. WFC – Fall Soccer 1. 190 participants a. Also partnered with Keizer Mid- Valley Soccer to offer more varied competition for the older age groups. c. Parks & Facilities 8. FUTURE BOARD BUSINESS a. Nex Meeting: Wednesday, November 13, 2024 9.
