Volunteer Position Description Janitorial and Safety Inspector The City of Woodburn is seeking a highly motivated high school student to assist the Woodburn Aquatic Center’s janitorial staff to wash, sanitize and tidy the facility. By assisting with the maintenance duties of the WAC you help ensure the quality and sustainability of aquatic services by minimizing costs and creating a safe and clean environment for the community to Splish • Splash • Live • Learn! Duties: Must attend City volunteer orientation. Meet with the WAC supervisor to receive complete description of cleaning tasks and work schedule. Assist janitor in deep cleaning the facility. Duties include detail cleaning locker rooms, pool deck, lobby area, etc. Inspect facility for all safety hazards including slippery floors, broken toys and equipment, loose mats and tiles, etc. Report all safety risks to aquatics program supervisor. Qualifications: All volunteers must complete a City of Woodburn Volunteer Application, background check (18yrs+), and orientation. Janitorial and Safety Inspectors must be detail oriented, have a desire to learn and highly motivated. Experience working in the cleaning industries may be useful. Time Commitment: Flexible late night hours evening hours varying between two to three hours per week. Compensation: Students will gain valuable real life experience working for a government organization that they will be able to use on college and job applications. Hours spent at working for the City of Woodburn may also be used for Senior Projects and/or volunteer hours. Students who perform well may obtain a letter of recommendation or a reference from City staff.
