City of Whitefish Department of Public Works 418 E. 2nd Street I PO Box 158 Whitefish, MT 59937 (406) 863-2460 I Fax (406) 863-2419 ***RESERVOIR ROAD CONSTRUCTION NOTICE*** Who: • City of Whitefish - Owner • Swank Enterprises - General Contractor • LHC - Pipe and Roadwork Subcontractor • Northwestern Energy - Gas Utility Provider • Morrison-Maierle - Engineer What: • Removal and milling of existing asphalt concrete pavement o Expect traffic to be reduced to single lane travel. • New natural gas main by Northwestern Energy • New 24” water transmission main o Water users connected to the City of Whitefish public water supply may experience brief outages when a temporary water supply is being connected, and again when the permanent water supply is restored. This will be further coordinated with individual water service users approximately two weeks in advance of any work affecting water service. • New 8” sewer main • New asphalt concrete pavement road surface When: • Work is scheduled to begin on August 10, 2020. • Work will continue until the onset of winter conditions when a winter shutdown will take place. Temporary asphalt surfacing will be provided for the winter. The remaining work will begin in the spring of 2021. All work will be complete by May 31, 2021 Where: • See the map on the back of this notice. The work will begin at the intersection of Reservoir Road and Wisconsin Avenue and extend along Reservoir Road for approximately a half mile towards the west up to the water treatment plant. ---PAGE BREAK--- Why: The City of Whitefish currently operates a Water Treatment Plant that treats water from Haskill Creek and Whitefish Lake. The work in Reservoir Road is being completed as part of the City’s Water Source and Treatment Capacity Expansion Project, which will expand the plant’s total capacity from 4 million gallons per day to 6 million gallons per day. This work is required by the Montana Department of Environmental Quality to meet the City’s growing demand during the peak summer months.
