City of Whitefish Fire Department also serving the Whitefish Fire Service Area 275 Flathead Avenue – PO Box 158 - Whitefish, Montana 59937 [PHONE REDACTED] Fax: [PHONE REDACTED] BID - REQUEST Whitefish Fire Department Type-6 Brush Truck Remount The City of Whitefish Fire Department is accepting bids to remount a type-6 brush truck flatbed with pump and water tank from a 1998 Chevrolet chassis onto a new Ford F-350 Chassis for the City of Whitefish Fire Department. The bid specification for the project is enclosed. It is not the intent of the City of Whitefish to favor one vendor; however, we do, from time to time, rely on vendors’ help in writing specifications. These bid-specifications detail the general requirements for this swap over. When evaluating bid proposals to determine which proposal is the most advantageous for the City of Whitefish Fire Department these items shall be considered: 1. Conformity to this specification, alternates approved by the Fire Chief shall be considered. 2. Bidder’s past performance with the Whitefish Fire Department and other agencies. 3. Bidder’s ability to service the brush truck locally, both the commercial chassis and the custom flatbed and equipment. 4. Overall cost of the swap over after adjustments approved by the Fire Chief. 5. Delivery time frame from awarding of a contract. Submittal of Bids will be opened on 27th day of September 2022 at 4:00 p.m. MST. Qualifications should be submitted in a sealed envelope to the Whitefish City Clerk Michelle Hawke, 418 E 2nd Street, Whitefish, Montana 59937. Each envelope shall be plainly marked: “Bid – WFD Brush Truck”. Install the removed flatbed from the 1998 Chevrolet onto the supplied Ford chassis including fabrication of mounting brackets and wiring required to ensure proper operation of the pump and all flathead equipment. Fabricate spare tire storage centered between cab and flatbed along with storage space for firefighter’s PPE. Wrap the top of the chassis’ red cab in black to match the Whitefish Fire department fleet. Add the two Whitefish Fire Department logos on the cab doors to match the Whitefish Fire Department fleet. (Whitefish Fire Department to supply) Add the number 281 on each fender matching the Whitefish Fire Department fleet. (Whitefish Fire Department to supply) Install a customer supplied Road Armor winch ready steel bumper grille guard, Black finish. Install a Warn 12K Winch. Install emergency lighting and controller for: - a 60-inch low profile LED rooftop lightbar w/ traffic advisor and alley lights with full white scene light option. - Two red/white front flush mount lights - Two red/amber rear flush mount lights ---PAGE BREAK--- Remove the following equipment from the 1998 Chevrolet and mount on the Ford including fabricating any required mounting hardware and rewiring as needed for proper operation: - Siren controller - Siren Speaker - Kenwood Radio - Kenwood Radio Head - Fire extinguisher Test pump both from tank water and from a draft. Bidder may include the trade in of the 1998 Chevy chassis, with value listed separately on the quote. Bidder shall: 1. Ensure their staff possess the technical knowledge, certifications, and continuing education needed to work on the Whitefish Fire Department’s brush truck, including the appropriate ASE and EVT certifications in compliance with NFPA standards. 2. Have a secure heated garage space large enough to secure both of the trucks during the swap over. 3. Maintain appropriate liability and Garage Keepers insurance policies that specify coverage for work performed on emergency vehicles. 4. Maintain appropriate non-owner commercial auto insurance policy for any driver of Whitefish Fire Department vehicles and insure all drivers operating vehicles over 26,000 lbs. have an appropriate valid CDL.
