Volunteer to Ski Program May 9-June 29, 2023 The Volunteer to Ski Program offers Whitefish youth the opportunity to volunteer in our community and the ability to earn a season pass to Whitefish Mountain Resort. This opportunity is available to students currently in or entering 6th - 8th grade. Details: • Return the completed City of Whitefish Volunteer application, along with essay questions (attached) no later than 5:00pm by April 18, 2023. Email to [EMAIL REDACTED], or mail to City of Whitefish, Attn: Mitch Lauenstein, PO Box 158, Whitefish, MT, 59937. • Applicant names will be put in a hat, and approximately ten names will be drawn for the volunteer program. • If your child’s application is accepted, they will be required to complete 20 hours of age-appropriate community service in our city parks from May 9- June 29. During the school year (May 9- June 6) volunteer hours will be on Tuesdays from 3:30-5:30, and during the summer (June 13-June 29) volunteer hours will be Tuesdays or Thursdays 9am-1pm. • If selected, parents and participants are required to attend a mandatory meeting with the Parks and Recreation Staff. We will meet at City Hall on May 2nd @ 6:00pm. • It is the responsibility of the participants to secure transportation to and from the park locations at the designated times when school is not in session from June 13-29. During the school year, transportation to the work location will be provided by the Parks and Recreation Department via Parks and Recreation shuttle. • Once the 20 hours of community service are completed, participants must complete a written exit essay to receive their gift card. • Gift cards, in the amount of an early season junior pass (ages 7-12), will be distributed after. Families will need to purchase the pass prior to September 30th to receive the early season rate for the 23/24 winter season. For children over the age of 13, families will need to pay the difference for a teen pass (ages 13-18).
