Due to smolder danger, do not burn pine needles. Garbage and construction site materials are prohibited. Description & Size of Materials: The burn pile must be 50 feet from any structures and combustible materials with no overhead wires or branches located directly above the pile. On-site fire extinguishing equipment (such as dirt, a fire extinguisher, a garden hose, etc.) shall be available for immediate use. The Whitefish Fire Department has the authority to inspect burn piles or cancel any and all burn permits at any time due to fire conditions and other factors. All permits expire December 31, 2026. All burn piles must be constantly attended, completely extinguished, and cold to the touch when burning is completed daily. In the event that our assistance is required to contain or extinguish a burn, the permit holder will be responsible for all costs incurred by Whitefish Fire Department.
