Community Center members- At the start of COVID -19, the Walton County Parks and Recreation Department was forced to shut down the community centers and the gyms to all of our members. Governor Kemp and President Trump have now allowed us the opportunity to start re-opening our facilities under certain stipulations. We have started preparing for these new policies and will start our first phase of opening Felker and Meridian Community Fitness Centers on May 4, 2020. Below are the temporary hours of operation and a few of the guidelines that we will be enforcing during the next few weeks. We will reevaluate these best practices and hours of operation on June 1, 2020, and make any necessary adjustments. If, at any time, the Governor or County Chairman implements any new orders, we will abide by those orders at the given time frame. Doors at the front entrance will remain locked. Members will be allowed in once the staff takes their temperature (using a non- contact device) and asks a few health questions. Guests will then sign in and can proceed to the work out areas. No daily fee users or non-members will be allowed at this time. Walton County residents that wish to join may call the community centers for assistance. We will be adjusting everyone’s membership by implementing the following plan: Current memberships will be extended until August 31, 2020. (Additional 8 weeks) Renewed memberships for the next year will be $88. This reduced rate accounts for the time missed in the previous year’s membership. We will continue trying to communicate to all of the citizens of Walton County and especially to our members of the community centers. Please help us with the sanitizing of equipment and maintain a 6-foot boundary between each person while in the facility. This may mean that all of the equipment will not be available, depending on the number of users in the facility. Please address our staff with any questions or concerns. We hope we can get back to normal operating hours soon. Thanks for your patience and cooperation. Walton County Parks and Recreation Staff
