NORTHEAST HEALTH DISTRICT COVID UPDATE The Week in Numbers: 6/8-6/13* COVID TESTS BY SITE Athens Drive-Thru SPOC: 440 NEHD Mobile Unit: 315 UGA/NEHD Mobile Unit: 74 Total = 829 *NEHD locations only In this issue: • CCHD employee recognized • Weekly numbers • MIS-C • PPE donations •Mask wearing •Parks and Recreation District 10 News in the time of COVID-19 Clarke County Health Department’s Clara Butler was featured in a recent ABH article for her efforts in mask-making for our clinics and the public. Clara and a team of staff members have sewn hundreds of masks that have been provided to clinic staff and patients. The team also created 30 kits of masks and hand sanitizers that were distributed to members of high risk communities being tested for COVID-19 with the mobile clinic. We are proud of her initiative in helping the community and thank all staff who pitched in to help! June 15, 2020 Summer is here! DID YOU KNOW? NEHD has been serving as coordination point for donations of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for healthcare providers including many nursing homes. For information on specific items and how to donate, click on PPE Donations Information. The Northeast Health District (NEHD), in partnership with the Region E Healthcare Coalition, has coordinated the distribution of donated PPE to area healthcare facilities and nursing homes. These vital equipment donations have come from the state and federal supplies, coalition partners as well as community groups and members of the public. For a look at what’s been dispensed so far, check out the District 10 graphs on page 2. ---PAGE BREAK--- FROM THE CDC The CDC recently released a health advisory about reports of multi-inflammatory in children associated with the Coronavirus. The UGA College of Public Health and UGA Athletics has created a COVID-19 public information and social media campaign. Promotional documents, many available in English and Spanish, are located on the CPH webpage and NEHD website. Available items include posters, infographics and social media posts that may be useful for businesses, community groups and individuals. Worried you have been exposed to the Coronavirus? Anyone can be tested for COVID-19. While there are a number of places you can get a test for the virus, an NEHD location can test you quickly and for FREE! Call the COVID-19 testing hotline for an appointment: [PHONE REDACTED]. Screening is available Monday - Friday from 8 am to 7 pm, and Saturday from 8:30 am - 5 pm. Press 1 for screening in English, 3 for Spanish. Page 2 DID YOU KNOW? Masks are important to help stop the spread of Covid-19. Promote mask positivity. Let others know that wearing a mask correctly is a sign of respect for the health and protection of yourself, as well as those around you. Self-Care is Important: Stress, anxiety, fear…all are common right now. Take time out to care for your mental & physical health.
