Instructions for Summit County Wood Chipping Program To set up a request for the chipper crew we need to have: Association/Individual Property Owner’s Name Contact person’s name and phone number (Cellular Preferred). Address. Exact location and if possible, a map. How many piles of woods and approximate dimensions of how big each pile is. The date that it will be ready to chip (completely stacked). Information for residents: Chipping will be scheduled by area instead of taking individual appointments. The chipping crew will be working Monday through Thursday. We do not need anyone on site unless it is to provide access. No one is allowed to help the chipping crew and everyone must maintain a 30 foot radius away from the chipper. Residents are not allowed to stack wood while the chippers are chipping. Everything must be ready or we will not chip. Materials up to 8” in diameter can be chipped. Items less than ½” will not be chipped unless they are part of a larger branch. Materials need to be cut into manageable and may not weigh more than 50 pounds (an average individual must be able to lift the material). Materials should be stacked on the side of a road or in a driveway. The truck and chipper need to be able to access the materials easily. All the wood must be stacked perpendicular to the road with the stumped end facing the road and cut into manageable Stacks or piles should not be higher than 5 feet. Everything must be stacked and neat when we arrive or we will not chip it. The chips will be left on site. We cannot throw the chips into the back of a truck or trailer.
