They are currently patrolling Highway 44. Crashes mainly happen at Hwy 16; the highway district has put a delay on the lights to try and help with accidents. Neighborhood patrols will increase due to the holidays and kids. The Chief stated that he gave out 15 pounds of candy at the Halloween event. Audience member asked how police control the race on State Street with the roads going down to one lane? The Mayor stated that ITD did not widen it all the way because of lack of money. Bell asked about what the advanced notice is. Tinsley stated that they could get the lights up by Thanksgiving. Discussion was held on bulb color. Bell agrees that if you go to the mini lights, it won’t be enough on that big tree. He thinks we would be disappointed if we went with the mini lights. We should go with the C7 light bulbs. He thinks we should buy the lights and pay someone to install them. With the donation from the Chamber and Wurster, it comes pretty close to purchasing the lights.
