Salem Park, Recreation and Community Services July 2018 We had a beautiful day for our Saturday Morning Painting Class at Palmer Cove. This class was funded by the City of Salem Department of Planning and Community Development and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Thanks to the Friends of the Salem Council on Aging for sponsoring the event. We are thrilled to be working with Farm Direct Co-Op again this summer. Each Wednesday and Friday, fresh fruits and vegetables will be dropped off to the Salem COA for our seniors. We will have a table set up in the dining room at 11:00am for seniors to choose desired produce. Quantities may be limited due to demand. Please bring your own recyclable bag for produce. Independence Day Breakfast Monday, July 2nd 9:30am Hot breakfast and live en- tertainment $5.00 per person Come help us celebrate America’s birthday! Summer Rec Basketball This league is open to both girls and boys, ages 9-15. Clinics begin the week of June 25th ,with games starting the week of July 9th. Registration is required at salemrec.com. Special thanks to local law firm Mazow and McCollough for sponsoring our league again this summer. We appreciate your continued support. Youth and Adult Tennis Lessons The July lessons begin on Tuesday, July 10th. This four week program at the courts at Salem High School is being led by Barbara Maitland. To register, visit salemrec.com Summer Drama Workshop This week long workshop is designed to teach the techniques required to perform a character onstage, increase speaking skills and build confidence. Ages 6-12 Date: Monday–Friday, July 9th—13th Time: 10:00AM-12:00PM Location: Winter Island Function Hall Register at salemrec.com Thanks to Guy Robinson for organizing our Saturday morning basketball clinics. Participants had the opportunity to work on passing, shooting, defense, dribbling, teamwork and sportsmanship. Winter Island Bingo Tuesday, July 17th 11:30am-2:00pm $6.50 includes lunch Register with Rosanna Salem Park Walks Park and Recreation Commissioner, Chris Burke will lead a walk through Salem Willows on Saturday, July 14th beginning at 9:00am. On the walk, par- ticipants will observe and identify trees, pointing out those that have been plant- ed as well as those growing naturally. He will also talk about the history of when and how the park was formed. This walk will be slow paced, with many stops. No pre-registration is required. Meet Chris at 9:00am near the Clam Shack.
