Rules & Regulations 1. Camping reservations will be confirmed only when payment is made in full by Discover, MasterCard, or Visa. 2. If you need to cancel a reservation, it must be completed seven days, or more, in advance of the scheduled arrival date to receive a refund. A $15 fee will be applied to each refund. No refund will be issued for cancellations completed fewer than seven days prior to the scheduled arrival date. No refunds for early departures or no-shows. 3. Store and office hours are 8 am to 4 pm during the camping season. 4. The Bathhouse is open 24 hours a day. Discharge of wastewater at Winter Island Park is prohibited. Dumping facilities are available nearby. See staff for details. 5. In case of emergency, call 911. 6. Check-in time is 1 pm. Check-out time is 11 am. Any gear left on site after check-out time is subject to removal and disposal. 7. Vehicle registration and ID required at check-in. Must be 18 years of age to reserve a campsite. Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. 8. Quiet hours are 10 pm to 6 am. 9. The Salem Fire Dept. prohibits ground fires on park property and beaches. 10. Please respect fellow campers. Do not walk through other campers’ sites. 11. City of Salem leash law is strictly enforced. Pets are not allowed on the beaches or in the water May 1 through Sept. 30. All pet waste must be properly disposed of in barrels. 12. Public consumption of alcohol is prohibited. Violators are subject to ejection from Park without refund. 13. Not all tent sites have on-site vehicle access. One vehicle per site. Additional vehicles will be charged $5 per night and must be registered with the office to obtain a parking pass. 14. Limit four adults or one family (maximum seven) per tent site. Two-tent maximum per site. No more than seven people allowed on a tent site at one time. 15. All guests of registered campers must be off Winter Island Park property by 10 pm. 16. Winter Island Park and its assignees are not responsible for personal property loss or damage. 17. These policies and costs are subject to change at the discretion of the management or the City of Salem Park & Recreation Commission. Any violation of the rules and regulations may result in immediate ejection from the park. Anyone ejected will not be entitled to a refund. Traveling on Route 128 Northbound: - Take Exit 25A to Andover Street/Route 114 East (Salem). At the bottom of the exit ramp merge into left lane. - Go 0.4 mile and turn left at the traffic lights onto Pulaski St. - Go 0.8 mile and turn right onto Water Street/Route 35. - Go 1.9 miles and take the ramp for Route 107. Bear right at the bottom of the ramp following the sign for 107 North (Beverly). - Go 0.3 mile and turn right at the third set of traffic lights onto Bridge Street/Route 1A. - Go 0.2 mile and turn right at the traffic lights onto Webb St. - Go 0.3 mile and bear left at the fork in the road onto Fort Avenue. - Go 0.7 mile and turn right onto Winter Island Road. - Go 0.3 mile to Winter Island Park entrance. Avoid GPS directions that take you left onto a dead-end road. Stay straight on Winter Island Road to Winter Island Park. From Boston: Take I-93N to Exit 37A (I-95N / Route 128N). Follow directions above. From Maine / N.H.: Take I-95S (Maine) or I-93S to I-95N / Route 128N. Follow directions above. From Mass Pike: Take I- 90E to I-95N / Route 128N. Follow directions above. Note: I-95N/Route 128N share the same road for the loop around Boston. When the roads divide, stay on Route 128N. At this point, the exit numbers jump from No. 45 to No. 28. Situated on Salem Harbor’s waterfront and minutes from the historic downtown, it is the closest campground to Boston on the North Shore, offering 22 tent campsites, and 28 RV campsites. Winter Island has served the north shore for centuries, today offering a public beach for swimming and sunbathing, fishing, camping, and boating. It includes a playground, a state-owned boat ramp, a state- financed pier, and function facilities for special events. All campsites have their own picnic table, RV sites have electrical and water hookups (no sewer). The park has one fee-free centrally located bathhouse with bathrooms and showers, open 24 hours every day during the camping season. The office/store are near the waterfront and provide basic camping necessities including snacks, drinks, and toiletries as well as Winter Island memorabilia. Accommodations Campers may check RV and tent camping availability, view our interactive campsite map, and book their camping reservation(s) online up to six months in advance of their scheduled ‘First Night’ by going to reserveamerica.com. Click ‘Sign In or Sign Up’ which is located in the upper right corner of the page. ‘Existing Customers’ with Reserve America will be required to enter their ‘Email’ and ‘Password’ then click the ‘Sign In’ button to ‘Plan a Camping Trip’. ‘New Customers’ will be required to ‘Create an Account’ and ‘Create Camping Club Profile’ before they can ‘Plan a Camping Trip’. In the block that reads “Where do you want to explore?” type in WINTER ISLAND PARK, MA then click the ‘Search’ button. The maximum consecutive period of time that campers and/or their camping equipment are allowed to stay on any tent or RV site is 14 nights within any 30-day calendar period. A $3.50 processing fee will be added to the cost shown below for each camping site reservation made. Please note all costs are ‘per night’. No tents on designated RV sites.
