Salem Park, Recreation & Community Services October 2021 Salem Park, Recreation & Community Services 401 Bridge St. Salem, MA 01970 Future Artist Club Local artist and educator, James Eric Rogers, invites young teens, ages 10-15, to join him for 4 weeks of art classes. James’ Junior Art and Science Club has been such a success that we decided to expand to an older age group. Mondays, October 18th—November 8th 5:00-6:15pm $75.00 for the session and includes all supplies Class will be held at the Community Life Center, 401 Bridge St. Salem Register at salemrec.com Spooky Social at the Council on Aging Seniors are invited to come join us for a light snack and live music. Costumes are encouraged and prizes will be awarded ! Space is limited, so register with Rosanna early. Tuesday, October 26th 1:00-3:00pm $3.00 per person We had a beautiful night for Salsa at the Ferry Landing! Stretch-Tone– Strengthen We are thrilled to have Odessa O’Neil back with us to lead this class. The class will focus on stretches and toning exercises to lengthen and strengthen the body. Tuesdays, October 12th—November 2nd 6:15-7:15pm $55.00 for the 4 week session, Salem Community Life Center Register at salemrec.com Just a reminder that face coverings are required for all indoor activities at the Community Life Center. The Salem Council on Aging welcomes back our Aerobics Class with Beth Schultz. The class will be held on Friday mornings from 8:30-9:15am. Cost of the class is $5.00. Please contact Rosanna for additional information or to register. Fall Fun & Stories Join us at the Community Life Center on Tuesday afternoons for an hour of Halloween stories and crafts. Ages: 4-7 Dates: Tuesdays, October 5th—26th Time: 4:30-5:30pm $20.00 for the 4 week program Register at salemrec.com Saturday Morning Painting Class Spend a beautiful, fall morning with local artist Linda Abbene at Mack Park. Linda will guide students working on sketching and watercolors. All supplies provided. Participants must bring a blanket or towel to sit on. Ages: 8-14 Date: Saturday, October 2nd or Saturday, October 23rd Time: 10:30am –12:00pm This program is free for Salem children and is funded by the City of Salem Planning and Community Development and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Register at salemrec.com Haunted Happenings Parade Thursday, October 7th This year’s event will be a reverse parade where all participants will be stationary, with attendees walking the route to view them. We invite seniors to join us in costume as we will have a decorated COA van and will be collaborating with Mamadou to provide entertainment through his drum session. If interested in participating, please contact Rosanna at 978- 744-0924. Breakfast at the COA Our special breakfast will be held on Thursday, October 14th at 9:30am.
