April 26, 2019 Abutters of the Rosies Pond Flood Mitigation Project: Lawrence Street, Brooks Street, Wheatland Street and Jefferson Avenue Re: Invitation to a Project Update Meeting This notice has been prepared to invite you to a project update meeting scheduled for Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at 6:30PM on Brooks Street. This meeting is being held to provide information about the additional investigations and evaluations that were performed relative to an alternative to the proposed earthen berm and landscaping opportunities along Brooks Street. The additional investigations and evaluation were performed based on feedback during the previous neighborhood meeting held in response to inquiries from abutters regarding the ability to retain some existing trees and planting beds in the proposed flood control berm. We would like to take this opportunity to meet with you again to present the findings from the additional investigations and evaluation. We will present the results of the investigations and the alternative designs. Following the meeting, the City will move forward with updating the project bid documents to reflect any changes; re-permit the project through the Salem Conservation Commission and re-bid the project. After we have selected a contractor and approved their shedule for the project, and prior to construction starting, we will hold a preconstruction meeting with the neighborhood to share more information about the sequencing and schedule of the construction.
