Salem Park, Recreation and Community Services June 2023 Our annual Council on Aging Father’s Day BBQ will be held on Friday, June 16th at 10:30am at Winter Island. Live music, dancing, and great food at this beautiful outdoor location. This event is being sponsored by the Friends of the Salem Council on Aging. You will need to register in advance with Rosanna by Tuesday, June 13th. Coach KC’s Super Sports This program designed by KC Bloom is for children ages 4-6 and offers them an introduction to different sports. Monday—Thursday June 19th—22nd 10:00am-12:00pm Forest River Park Register at salemma.myrec.com Senior 80’s Prom The Salem Council on Aging is hosting a Senior Prom on Thursday, June 15th at 4:00pm. This is a free event and is being sponsored by the Salem Rotary Club. You will need to register in advance with Rosanna by Monday, June 12th. Summer Playground Program We are excited to offer a FREE, 3 hour playground program that will run 9:00am –12:00pm for Salem youth ages 6-12. Each week, instructors will be at three different playgrounds in Salem to offer traditional crafts, games and activities. Registration is required for this program. Sign up for one week or all eight! Participants need to bring their own mats. Thursdays, June 22nd—July 20th 7:00-8:00am Winter Island Park $45.00 for the 5 week session Register at salemma.myrec.com Evening Pickleball Lessons for Adults Lessons for all levels with certified instructor, Maria Bishop. Maria will be offering two sessions of Beginner’s Class and one session of Pickleball Coached Games. Tuesday, June 20th—August 8th $160.00 for the 7 weeks session For class times and to register, visit salemma.myrec.com The Salem Council on Aging will host our annual Independence Day Celebration on Friday, June 30th at 10:30am. Live music, dancing and lunch. The cost is $8.00 per person. You must register with Rosanna by Monday, June 26th for this event. Girls Lacrosse Clinic—Ages 10-14 Under the direction of lacrosse coach, Kristen Stevens, participants will learn the fundamental skills of lacrosse. This clinic is open to all ability levels and will take place at Mack Park. For addi- tional information and to register, visit salem- ma.myrec.com Monday—Friday, June 26th—June 30th 9:00-11:00am This program is free for Salem youth. The program is being funded by the City of Salem Department of Planning and Community Development and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Congratulations to the Stepping Stone Inn, winners of the 2023 Women’s Volleyball League. Salem Council on Aging Brunch and Movie will be on Monday, June 26th at 11:00am. The cost of the brunch is $7.00 per person. The movie this month is “Independence Day”. Registration is re- quired. See Rosanna to reserve a spot.
