NOTICE OF PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD SUBSTANTIAL AMENDMENT TO FY20 ACTION PLAN Notice is hereby given that the City of Salem Department of Planning and Community Development (DPCD) will hold a 5-day comment period beginning on May 12, 2021 regarding a substantial amendment to the City of Salem’s FY20 Action Plan (HUD 2019 Program Year). The City of Salem has been notified of an award of $537,651 in Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act (CARES Act) funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). These funds are to be used to prevent, prepare for, and respond to COVID-19. The purpose of the substantial amendment is to add this new allocation (CDBG-CV) to the FY20 Action Plan as an available resource. It is anticipated that the CDBG-CV3 funds will be utilized for the following activities: • Economic development activities - $150,000 • Planning & Administration activities - $50,000 • Infrastructure/public facilities - $15,000 • Public Service activities - $322,651 It is anticipated that the CDBG-CV funds will be utilized for activities which may include housing, economic development, infrastructure/public facilities, planning and/or public services. Examples could be assistance to affected businesses, improvement of facilities or outdoor spaces for health purposes, and services such as housing legal assistance, transportation and neighborhood outreach. Activities will benefit low and moderate income persons, aid in the prevention or elimination of slums or blight, or meet urgent, emergency needs. Questions may be sent to [EMAIL REDACTED]. La Ciudad de Salem ha sido notificada de una asignacion de $537,651 en fondos de la Ley de Ayuda Económica, Ayuda y Alivio del Coronavirus (Ley CARES, en inglés) del Departamento de Vivienda y Desarrollo Urbano de los Estados Unidos (HUD, en inglés). Estos fondos se utilizarán para prevenir, prepararse y responder ante el COVID-19.
