Salem Park Recreation and Community Services October 2019 Go4Life Family Fun Walk The Salem Council on Aging, through funding from the Mass Council on Aging and Blue Cross Blue Shield, is thrilled to be hosting a Go4Life Family Fun Walk Tuesday, October 1, 2019 5:00pm, Registration begins at 4:00pm Salem Common Our one mile walk will be Halloween themes and we encourage participants to come in costume. Bring the whole family and join us for a walking celebration. Local Fitness instructor, Beth Schultz will lead us at 5:00pm in an upbeat warm up and then lead the 1 mile walk. Healthy snacks and water will be provided. Haunted Happenings Grand Parade Members of the Salem Council on Aging are invited to join us for the parade on Thursday, October 3rd. Come in costume and ride on the trolley. Space is limited, so sign up with Rosanna early. The parade begins at 6:30pm and we will be leaving from the CLC at 5:00pm. Runners at the start of this year’s Derby Street Mile. Thanks to the many volunteers who helped make this event so successful! Family Halloween Dance Join us for our 2nd Annual Family Halloween Dance. Friday, October 11th 5:30-7:30pm Salem Community Life Center $5.00 per person Register at salemrec.com Dance to music. Refreshments served. Costume prizes awarded for the following categories: Best Group Scariest Fanciest Most Original Junior Art Class Local artist and educator, James Eric Rogers leads students ages 6-12 in 4 weeks of art classes. Come in costume! See Rosanna for tickets Video Boot Camp Children ages 8-14 have the op- portunity to learn the basic operation of digital camcorders from the staff of SATV. Wednesdays October 2nd—23rd 3:45-5:00pm Register at salemrec.com Fire Safety Presentation Salem Fire Marshall, Peter Schaeublin, will be at the CLC on Wednesday, October 30th to present important fire and general safety tips to seniors. The presentation is scheduled for 9:45am. Youth Chess Club Children ages 8 and up are invited to join Park and Recreation staff members, Keegan and Marcus for an afternoon of chess. This pro- gram will provide beginner and intermediate chess players the opportunity to learn more about the game and practice their skills.
