Salem Police Department Civilian Complaints 2021 21 Total Complaints 10 Sustained 1 Excessive Force Complaint – Exonerated 1 Complaint of Racial Profiling – Exonerated 1 Complaint for Inappropriate Social Media Post – Sustained 9 Complaints for Rudeness/Discourtesy – 6 Sustained 9 Complaints for Improper Police Action – 3 Sustained It should be noted that in 2021 the Salem Police Department responded to 32,221 calls for service, issued 5415 motor vehicle citations, and effected 1579 arrests.
