Mature Douglas fir forest predominated. The Sammamish River Vallley and lower Bear Creek Valley were occupied by a mix of wooded wetland and pasture. For stormwater modeling purposes, these have been combined into a single "pasture" category. Redmond Natural Resources staff developed this map in 2004, based on the earliest availale field mapping (USGLO 1870) and first local land classification/forest survey (USDI), completed in 1897. The Sammamish River is show in its present configuration
