The Task Force has identified XX strategies to address homelessness in the City. These strategies will require action by not only the City, but also other eastside Cities and the County, human services providers, the business community, faith community, and residents. 5. The Task Force strategies cover 6 basic areas: a. Improving public safety and reducing crime b. Expanding and improving services to homeless/sheltered individuals c. Expanding, improving and/or mitigating impacts of shelter and housing options for the homeless and others facing housing barriers d. Improving public understand and the public’s ability to assist in improving the situation e. Advocacy 6. The situation won’t be fixed in a day, or a year, but substantial progress can and should be made over the next one to five years. 7. Progress will require additional resources—not just from the City. 8. A small subcommittee of stakeholders with interest/background in public safety and human services should be created and charged with developing an implementation plan for the Task Force’s recommendations, with support from City Staff. 9.
