Notice of Utility Rate Adjustments for 2019-2020 The City of Redmond provides water, wastewater, and stormwater services to our utility customers. As a result of the increased costs of providing, these services and for future replacement costs of system infrastructures, the City will implement rate adjustments effective with statements prepared after January 1, 2019. City of Redmond Water, Wastewater and Stormwater City Council has approved water and wastewater rates for the 2019-2020 biennium. There will be a rate increase of 2% per year for water service for both 2019 and 2020 and the City portion of the wastewater rate will increase by 4% per year. Stormwater rates will remain the same. These changes will impact customer classes differently. • Average residential customer bills will reflect a rate increase of approximately 1% for water in each year. Wastewater rates for the City and stormwater rates will remain the same. The average residential customer bill will increase by $0.70 per billing period in each year for all City utility services. Residential customers are billed on a basis and pay a fixed rate for water, wastewater, and stormwater, and a commodity rate for water consumption. Water commodity rates are tiered and increase with the amount of water used. • Commercial and Multi-Family customer bills will reflect a rate increase of approximately 4.25% for water in each year and 7% for City wastewater. Water and wastewater charges contain both a fixed rate and a variable rate based on consumption. Water consumption is billed at a winter commodity rate from November through May and a summer commodity rate from June through October. A variable wastewater collection rate is assessed for wastewater usage over 600 cubic feet in a billing period. • Commercial and Multi-Family stormwater rates will remain the same. Stormwater charges are calculated based on the impervious area of a parcel and any credits applicable for on-site water quality and/or quantity controls. • Irrigation water costs will remain the same for 2019 and 2020. Irrigation customers are billed for both a fixed rate and commodity rate.
