Notice of Utility Rate Adjustments for 2019-2020 The City of Redmond provides water and wastewater services to our Novelty Hill utility customers. As a result of the increased costs of providing, these services and for future replacement costs of system infrastructures, the City will implement adjustments effective with statements prepared after January 1, 2019. City of Redmond Water and Wastewater City Council has approved water and wastewater rates for the 2019-2020 biennium. There will be a 3% per year increase in the water rate, and the City portion of the wastewater rates will increase 5% per year over the biennium. These changes will impact customer classes differently. • Average residential customer bills will reflect a rate increase of approximately $7.10 per billing period, in each year, for all City utility services combined; this includes charges for both water and wastewater. Residential customers are billed on a basis and pay a fixed rate for water and wastewater, and a commodity rate for water consumption. Water commodity rates are tiered and increase with the amount of water used. • Commercial and Multi-Family customer bills will reflect a rate increase of approximately 3% for water in each year. Wastewater rates for the City will increase by 5% each year. bills contain both a fixed rate and a variable rate for water and wastewater. Water consumption is billed at a winter commodity rate from November through May and a summer commodity rate from June through October. King County Wastewater Treatment King County provides wastewater treatment for City of Redmond customers. King County’s wastewater treatment rate will increase by 2.5% ($1.11 per month) in 2019 for all wastewater customers, this increase is passed on to City wastewater customers.
