Redmond is expanding transportation options with easy ways to commute by foot, bike, bus, car—and in 2023-2024—light rail. More details at redmond.gov/Transportation Transportation Contact: Don Cairns, [PHONE REDACTED] (transportation projects and transit) Sarah Pyle, [PHONE REDACTED] (commute options) Summary: The Puget Sound region is growing, and so is Redmond’s community. To maintain our community character and increase mobility options, the City has implemented a balanced approach to transportation that includes more street connections, roadway efficiencies such as two-way grids, and providing more choices like light rail and buses, with a heightened emphasis on walking and bicycling for shorter trips. Solutions: To implement this balanced approach, the City has focused on developing partnerships within Redmond and the region. We have worked with the Washington State Department of Transportation to provide better access to freeways, coordinated with Sound Transit and King County Metro to help improve transit access and reliability and developed public-private partnerships to create better pedestrian and bicycle access to our urban centers. ---PAGE BREAK--- 2023 2018 2016 Light rail construction started Light rail comes to Overlake 2017 2021 Cleveland Street and Redmond Way conversion completed Redmond Central Connector II opened Overlake Access Ramp construction begins 2013 Redmond Central Connector opened Bear Creek Parkway extension to Redmond Town Center completed 2009 2010 NE 36th Street bridge completed 2024 Light rail comes to Downtown and Marymoor Village The City of Redmond assures that no person shall, on the grounds of race, color, national origin, or gender, as provided by Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Civil Rights Restoration Act of 1987, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be otherwise subjected to discrimination under any program or activity.
