Dear Interested Property Owner, The intent of this letter is to inform you that King County is in the process of updating and expanding its regional emergency communications system called Puget Sound Emergency Radio Network (PSERN). This system enables 9-1-1 dispatchers to send help to your residence during an emergency as well as help first responders such as police officers, fire fighters, and emergency medical staff coordinate response efforts to an emergency. The current emergency radio system is more than 20 years old and unless we do something now our current network is at risk of becoming unreliable. To that end, King County PSERN would like to place an emergency communications facility behind the water tanks in the Education Hill neighborhood at the public works property located at 10365 172nd Ave. NE, Redmond, WA. PSERN is proposing this site to provide critical emergency radio communications to reach and coordinate with emergency responders within the existing network who serve King County residents. The proposal consists of constructing a monopole to a height one hundred seventy feet (170’) to effectively transmit and receive emergency radio communications. PSERN is proposing to locate ground equipment nearby screened by a wood fence and landscaping. The following items have been attached to provide additional information regarding the proposed project location and to provide feedback from the neighborhood: Photo Simulations Survey Preliminary Site Plan and Elevations A balloon test is scheduled for Saturday, July 16th from 9 AM to 11 AM. This will provide an opportunity to view the balloon and see how tall the tower would be on the subject property. King County PSERN will also be holding an open house. An invitation to the open house will be mailed 2 weeks prior and posted on King County PSERN’s website: Please complete the enclosed survey. A self-addressed stamped envelope has been provided. Please mail the completed survey back by July 25th. (Please note survey responses are anonymous unless contact information is provided). For more information about the PSERN project, please visit www.psern.org.
