PUYALLUP MUNICIPAL COURT, 929 E Main, Suite 120, Puyallup, WA 98372 Community service is accepted on fines for any traffic infraction. However, effective 2013, any criminal case must be authorized by the judge for credit toward fines prior to acceptance. A list of some local organizations accepting persons for community service can be obtained from the Court Bailiff (and posted on the Court’s webpages). Please note the following rules pertaining to community service: 1) Community service must be performed for a nonprofit organization such as foodbanks, churches, public schools, United Way, Salvation Army, Good Will, etc. Most nursing or retirement homes do not qualify as nonprofit. Check with the home’s director. 2) You may not receive any monetary compensation for your community service. 3) Community service must begin on or after your judgment date. You will not receive credit for community service performed prior to your judgment. 4) Community service must be turned in to the court on/before your payment due date, and each and every month as per your time-payment agreement. 5) The agency for which you perform community service must fill out the bottom portion of this form. Or, in the alternative, the agency may use their letterhead stationary. The form must include all of the information contained at the bottom of this form. Community service cannot be performed or verified and signed off by a relative or family member. Effective 1/1/2015, community service will be credited at the rate of state minimum wage – $9.47 per hour. It may be performed anywhere within the State of Washington. It is your responsibility to keep track of your hours and ensure they are submitted to the court timely. A defendant in Puyallup Municipal Court has indicated he/she wishes to perform community service work to resolve fines or a mandatory requirement imposed by the judge. If a defendant is volunteering for community service to resolve outstanding fines with the court they will receive credit at the rate of $9.47 per hour.
