Significant trees are all large, healthy and growing coniferous trees greater than fifteen (15) inches DBH (diameter breast height at 4.5’ above ground). Critical areas are wetlands, fish and wildlife habitat areas, critical aquifer recharge areas, geologically hazardous areas, and all associated buffer areas. All critical areas identified and their associated buffers, must be shown on the title and map. You can look up critical areas and buffers on the City’s interactive GIS portal at puyallup.opendata.arcgis.com/ then scroll to the “Applications” section of the page and select “City of Puyallup Critical Areas App” to view. If there are critical areas on or adjacent to the subject parcel, you may be required to provide a critical area report(s). Please see PMC 21.06.530 for general critical area report requirements. Site Plan • Aerial photo of the property that provides call outs of where trees to be removed are located. 3. Tree Risk Assessment Qualification • All significant trees shall be examined by a certified arborist, with a certification in Tree Risk Assessment Qualification (TRAQ), prior to application for removal. 4. Trees in Critical Areas • For all trees in critical areas, a report from a certified arborist that documents the condition and hazard of the tree(s) to be removed as well as provides a replanting schedule for the replacement trees is required. • Felled trees in critical areas shall be replaced with new trees at a ratio of two native replacement trees for each one tree felled. Replacement trees shall be planted within one year of removal in accordance with an approve replanting plan.
