PICKENS COUNTY, GA SIGNS: Permit & Ordinances Commercial, Free-Standing, Building Signs Please be aware of the following: • For proposed freestanding signs with property frontage on Highway 515, signs can be maximum 20 feet tall and 100 square feet in size. • For proposed freestanding signs with property frontage on all other State routes (Hwy 53, Hwy 136, etc.), signs can be maximum 15 feet tall and 50 square feet in size. • For proposed freestanding signs with property frontage on all local roads (Cove Rd, Hill City Rd, etc.), signs can be maximum 10 feet tall and 32 square feet in size. • All signage on public thoroughfares in Pickens County is subject to regulation by county ordinance. See Pickens County Ordinances: Chapter 4 for details concerning allowable signs. The one-time charge for a permit is $1.00/square foot with a minimum charge of $25.00. If the sign is “two-sided,” there is a charge for each side. Prior to erecting any signage, you must have a permit issued by the Office of Planning and Development.
