FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE CITY OF PALMDALE NEWS RELEASE CONTACT: John Mlynar PHONE: 661/267-5115 DATE: July 11, 2017 Eye of the Res Tsar is July’s Book of the Month for Palmdale Library’s Mystery Book Club PALMDALE – The Palmdale City Library’s Mystery Book Discussion Group “Mystery, Murder and Mayhem” will discuss will discuss the book Eye of the Red Tsar by Sam Eastland on Wednesday, July 19, at 7 pm, at the Chimbole Cultural Center, 38350 Sierra Highway. Shortly after midnight on July 17, 1918, the imprisoned family of Tsar Nicholas Romanov was awakened and led down to the basement of the Ipatiev house. There they were summarily executed. Their bodies were hidden away, the location a secret of the Soviet state. A decade later, Pekkala, once the most trusted secret agent of the Romanovs, is now Prisoner 4745-P, banished to a forest on the outskirts of humanity. But the state needs Pekkala one last time. Sam Eastland is a pseudonym used by American author Paul Watkins. Eye of the Red Tsar, the first in the Inspector Pekkala series, was followed by The Red Coffin and Siberian Red. The Mystery, Murder and Mayhem Mystery Book Discussion Group meets the third Wednesday of the month at 7 pm, at the Larry Chimbole Cultural Center. The group is open to anyone who enjoys a good mystery. The discussion also provides disabled access with 72 hours’ notice.
