FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE CITY OF PALMDALE NEWS RELEASE CONTACT: John Mlynar PHONE: 661/267-5115 DATE: February 21, 2018 Spring Cleaning: Airpark Edition Coming This Saturday to Joe Davies Heritage Airpark PALMDALE - The City of Palmdale will host its third “Season of Service” event for 2018, with a “Spring Cleaning: Airpark Edition” this Saturday, Feb. 24 at the Joe Davies Heritage Airpark, 2001 East Ave. P, in Palmdale. Registration will be held from 8 to 8:30 am, with work beginning at 8:30 am. More than 15 Adopt-a-Plane groups and volunteers will perform tasks including picking up trash and debris, pulling weeds and spraying the dust off the aircraft using brushes and sponges. “Join our dedicated Adopt-a-Plane groups in preparing the Airpark for another great season of hosting thousands of visitors from around the world!” said Community Programs Coordinator Trish Jones. “Our volunteers are an amazing group of people who help us share our rich aerospace heritage.” The remaining 2018 Season of Service events include: Community Volunteer Resource Fair - Saturday, April 14 Location: Antelope Valley Mall 11 am – 3 pm Local agencies will be on hand to provide information about volunteering, donating and engaging opportunities. Community Partners: Antelope Valley Mall; Antelope Valley Volunteer Coordinators Stamp Out Hunger - Saturday, May 12 Community Partner: United States Postal Service Location: SAVES, 1002 East Avenue Q-12, Palmdale Time: Varied. Complete list at www.cityofpalmdale.org/servicedays Partner with local letter carriers for the 24th Annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive. Help SAVES process donations from the Annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive for community distribution. Volunteers under age 16 must be accompanied by an adult. All participants must complete a Release of Liability (available at www.cityofpalmdale.org or at event registration). Last year, Palmdale residents donated over 35,000 hours of service towards making Palmdale an even better place to live.
