Be sure to keep up with information from local government and the local media. Do not rely on one method of gathering information. Stay informed by using multiple sources of information. What is NIXLE? You can sign up for Citywide Emergency Alerts through NIXLE. It delivers real-time and relevant Law Enforcement specific information, from Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department to the residents and visitors, encouraging interaction and engagement. The Los Angeles County Sheriff Department will send the notification out if there is an emergency and/or disaster. The system sends emergency instructions to those who have signed up for receiving notifications. WHAT IS 2-1-1 211 LA is the central source for providing health and human services information for LA County. It is a free service that is available on 24 hour basis, with trained staff to help community in an advisory role regarding available resources to the community.
