FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE CITY OF PALMDALE NEWS RELEASE CONTACT: John Mlynar PHONE: 661/267-5115 DATE: October 2, 2017 Palmdale City Library’s Big Read Week Includes Special Reading Guests PALMDALE – The Palmdale City Library has designated the week of Oct. 2 through 8 as its “Big Read Week,” and is encouraging everyone to make a point to read every day, and especially to children. “Many of us think that perhaps the greatest gift we can give to children is the ability to read and a love for it,” said Library Director Robert Shupe. “So in conjunction with the launch of our new 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program, we’re inviting folks to join us in making it a ‘big deal’ to read – and especially to read to children – during our ‘Big Read Week.’ Whether you join us for one of our special guest storytime sessions or not, we encourage you to come to the library sometime to see our ‘Reading Rocket,” to learn more about our 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program and especially to sit down with a child and read to them this week…and beyond!” Special guest readers scheduled to read during storytime sessions at the Library this week include: • Tuesday, Oct. 3, 1 pm: John Mlynar, Palmdale Communications Manager • Wednesday, Oct. 4, 9:15 am: Robert Shupe, Palmdale City Library Director • Wednesday, Oct. 4, 10:15 am: Keri Smith, Palmdale Recreation & Culture Director • Friday, Oct. 6, 10 am: Palmdale Mayor Jim Ledford, and Deputy Sheriff David Ibanez, LA County Sheriff’s Department. ---PAGE BREAK--- The Palmdale City Library is open seven days a week.
