Naipaul, Monday, Nov. 27, at 7 pm, at the library, located at 700 E. Palmdale Blvd. This Nobel Prize winning novel chronicles both an internal journey and a physical trek into the heart of Africa, a place caught between the dangerously alluring modern world and its own tenacious past and traditions. Copies of A Bend in the River are available for check out at the library. The Classics Book Club meets on the fourth Monday of every month from 7 to 8 pm. New members are welcome to attend. The Palmdale City Library is open seven days a week. Hours of operation are Monday through Thursday from 10 am to 8 pm; Friday and Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm; and Sunday from 1 to 5 pm.
