38300 Sierra Highway, Suite C Palmdale, CA 93550 (661) 267-5151 Housing Authority Tenant Member Commissioner Duties and Responsibilities The purpose of the Housing Authority of the City of Palmdale is to address the shortage of safe, sanitary housing for persons of low income. The Housing Authority is made up of seven commissioners consisting of five City Council members and two appointed Tenant members. The two appointed tenant members must be tenants in the Housing Authority properties and at least one of the appointed tenant members must be age 62 or older. The two appointed tenant members have the same equal voting rights as the five City Council members. If the tenant member ceases to be a tenant, he or she shall be disqualified as a member and another tenant shall be appointed to fill the un-expired term. The tenant member must be a resident in good standing. The Palmdale Housing Authority Tenant Member must be a tenant in Housing Authority properties as follows: Boulders at the Ranch 1 and Boulders at the Ranch 2 and Boulders at the Lake; La Quinta Apartments; Summerwood; Park Vista; The Impressions. The Housing Authority Tenant Member Commissioners receive no compensation or reimbursement. The term of office is a two-year term. Housing Authority members are not involved in the management of the Housing Authority properties. Members are subject to the provisions of the Ralph M. Brown Act and are required to attend city- sponsored trainings. The Housing Authority meetings are called as needed and are generally held in the City Council Chamber, located at 38300 Sierra Highway, Suite B, Palmdale, CA on the first Tuesday of the month at 7:00 p.m. On occasion, additional meetings are held to discuss agenda items. Housing Authority meetings are open to the public and can last for several hours. Approximately a week before each meeting, a packet of staff reports is provided to each Commissioner in order to allow an opportunity for the Commissioners to prepare for their deliberation of each agenda item.
