38250 Sierra Hwy · Palmdale, CA 93550 Traffic Engineering (661) 267-5300 · Engineering Division (661) 267-5272 Revised: 07--2025 TRAFFIC CONTROL REQUIREMENTS Traffic control plans, signed and stamped by a registered Traffic Engineer, must be submitted to the City Traffic Engineer for approval when any of the following conditions apply (IF AN ENCROACHMENT PERMIT IS ISSUED, CALL PUBLIC WORKS INSPECTION TO DISCUSS TRAFFIC CONTROL PLAN 48 HOURS IN ADVANCE OF STARTING WORK AT 661/267-5255): 1. Moving traffic over the street centerline. 2. Reducing the number of travel lanes by more than one lane. 3. Any road closure (one or two way). 4. Any work performed within 250 feet of a traffic signal. (IF AN ENCROACHMENT PERMIT IS ISSUED, CALL TRAFFIC ENGINEERING 72 HOURS IN ADVANCE OF STARTING WORK AT 661/267-5272) The following conditions shall apply: 1. Access to all private property shall be maintained at all times, unless otherwise approved by the City of Palmdale. 2. Emergency vehicle access shall be maintained at all times. 3. All traffic signs, traffic control devices and control procedures shall be in conformance with the California Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices. 4. Additional traffic controls may be required to facilitate public safety and traffic flow, if deemed necessary by the City Inspector. These requirements as outlined above do not constitute the issuance of an encroachment permit.
