FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE CITY OF PALMDALE NEWS RELEASE CONTACT: John Mlynar PHONE: 661/267-5115 DATE: June 14, 2018 Palmdale Playhouse to Host Summer Travelogue Series PALMDALE – The Palmdale Playhouse kicks off its Summer Travelogue Series with Doug Jones' Cruising the Orient on Queen Elizabeth 2 (QE2) on Sunday, June 24 at 2 pm at the Playhouse, located at 38334 10th St. East, in Palmdale. Tickets are only “Join us as we present travelogues from World Adventure Travelogues,” said Palmdale Recreation Supervisor Annie M. Pagliaro. “Come relax in our comfortable environment and experience traveling to places only these filmmakers can take you to. Staff will host a preshow presentation of each film.” In Cruising the Orient on QE2, Doug Jones, one of America’s premier travel film producers, boarded the QE2 halfway through her final world cruise in Sydney, Australia. He sailed in luxury with the QE2 for 40 days through the most exotic ports of the Orient, observing beautiful sights such as the Sydney Harbor Bridge, Great Wall of China, Balinese dancers in Indonesia, and crocodile wrestlers in Bangkok. The other travelogues are: Stan Walsh's America – Sea to Shining Sea Sunday, July 8, 2 pm Barnstorm across America from Cape May on the Atlantic Ocean’s Jersey Shore to fabled Monterey Bay on the Pacific Ocean. Beginning the sojourn on the East Coast, discover Henry Hudson’s river and Sleepy Hollow, scene of Washington Irving’s tale of ---PAGE BREAK--- the headless horseman. At New England’s Mystic Seaport hear the chant of whalers hoisting a dingy aboard the Charles W. Morgan, an authentic 19th century whaling ship, and learn of America’s sea-going heritage at “Captains Courageous” Gloucester, Massachusetts, the town that created fish sticks. The experience ends in California's Napa Valley and Monterey Bay, after an amazing journey across America. Dale Johnson's Return to Sweden Sunday, July 22, 2 pm An American of Swedish descent, Dale Johnson journeyed to Sweden hoping to see the land of his ancestors. Unexpectedly, he found much more. Sweden is a country of sheer physical beauty: the midnight sun, Lapland reindeer herders, forested mountains, the Nobel Peace Prize, farming traditions, Viking ancestry, and Stockholm, Venice of the North. The film explores Goteborg, Marstrand, Rattvick, and Lake Siljan. John Holod's Eastern Canadian Adventure, the Maritimes & Newfoundland Sunday, August 5, 2 pm The Canadian Maritimes are a region of Eastern Canada consisting of three provinces: New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island. The film includes the Gaspe Peninsula and Newfoundland/ Labrador for a spectacular adventure that should be on every travelers "to do" list!
