FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE CITY OF PALMDALE NEWS RELEASE CONTACT: John Mlynar PHONE: 661/267-5115 DATE: August 18, 2017 “Young Americans” to Discuss Habits and School at Palmdale City Library PALMDALE – The Palmdale City Library, located at 700 E. Palmdale Blvd., will host the next meeting of “Young Americans,” a civics discussion group exclusively for teens ages 13 to 19, on Monday, Aug. 21 from 4:30 to 5:30 pm. This month the discussion will be about habits that are created while attending school. The talk will involve how attending school results in the creation of physical, mental and emotional habits such as diets, sleep patterns, learning habits and social demeanors. Focus will be given to how participants perceive those habits as well as how they deal with them. Pizza will be available for participants, as well. “The habits young people adopt now may reverberate and strengthen throughout adulthood,” said the group’s leader and Library Associate Samuel Franco. “It’s very important for teens to be aware of their behavioral patterns and communicate about how to best develop and manage them.” “Young Americans” civics-based conversations address topics such as personal finance, the workings of the government, social media, and what it means to be an informed, active citizen. “Young Americans” meetings take place on the third Monday of every month. The Palmdale City Library is open seven days a week. Hours of operation are Monday through Thursday from 10 am to 8 pm; Friday and Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm; and Sunday from 1 to 5 pm.
