Guest artists from various community partner groups will also be performing. Register at www.PalmdalePlayhouse.com ONGOING: Month of September – LED Streetlight Demonstration Project, City Ranch Road; Streetlights city-wide are going to be changed to Light Emitting Diode (LED) lighting. Before selecting a vendor to provide the luminaires for the switch, staff is seeking input from residents. Staff has narrowed down the choice to six vendors and has installed a sample of the lights on City Ranch Road (the road that leads to Waste Management). Beginning Sept. 6, residents are encouraged to visit the Demonstration Project and provide feedback on the lights; Comments can be texted to [PHONE REDACTED], emailed to [EMAIL REDACTED], or on the City’s website. Every Monday through Thursday in September at 7pm – Crime Prevention Specialists and Community Deputies will be holding Sidewalk Neighborhood Watch meetings in Palmdale neighborhoods. Meetings are about an hour and cover “Reporting Crime and Suspicious Activity”, “Organizing a Neighborhood Watch Group” and “Burglary Prevention”. With more than 300 graduates, the eight- week academy “pulls back the curtain” on City operations, affording participants a first-hand look at City operations and the people that make it happen. Sometimes referred to as “myth-busting,” the sessions present an overview of each City division, current and past projects, challenges and budgeting summaries. If you want to know more about your community and how to get involved, this is the place to be!
