The purchase will facilitate a conversion from the existing High Pressure Sodium (HPS) lighting to more energy efficient, longer lasting Light Emitting Diode (LED) lighting. The conversion will provide higher lighting that lasts up to five times longer than the current HPS lights. The City completed an LED light demonstration in February on City Ranch Road, the road leading to the Antelope Valley Landfill, where Palmdale residents were encouraged to view the lights and provide input on their quality. Streetlight outages may now be reported on the City’s website http://www.cityofpalmdale.org/Street-Light-Outage, by calling 661/267-5300 or by downloading the MyWaste app. Residents are invited to learn more about the streetlight project and the LED light conversion process by attending the Palmdale City Council’s workshop on Tuesday, April 17 at 7 pm at the Council Chamber, located at 38230 Sierra Highway.
