Palmdale Blvd, will host the next meeting of Young Americans, a civics discussion group exclusively for teens ages 13 to 19, on Wednesday, Sept. 26 from 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm. The topic will be citizenship. “To enable informed decision-making, clear and honest communication must be maintained, regardless of positions or stigmas associated with these subjects,” said Library Associate Samuel Fewell. “Come share your thoughts and ask your questions.” Pizza and beverages will be offered to those who join the discussion. “Citizenship is like a social contract, agreeing to be informed and involved for the better of one’s society,” said Library Associate Samuel Fewell. “We invite teens to share what citizenship means to them and brainstorm on how we can make an impact here in Palmdale.” “Young Americans” civics-based conversations address topics such as personal finance, the workings of the government, social media, and what it means to be an informed, active citizen. The Palmdale City Library is open seven days a week. Hours of operation are Monday through Thursday from 10 am to 8 pm; Friday and Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm; and Sunday from 1 to 5 pm.
