FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE CITY OF PALMDALE NEWS RELEASE CONTACT: John Mlynar PHONE: 661/267-5115 DATE: May 25, 2017 Disaster Preparedness Basics for Seniors Presentation Coming to Legacy Commons PALMDALE – The City of Palmdale’s neighborhood services department will host a disaster preparedness basics presentation for seniors on Wednesday, May 31 at 9 am at Legacy Commons for Active Seniors, located at 930 E. Ave. Q-9 in Palmdale. The presentation is free and open to the public. The presentation will provide information and resources on easy and cost effective ways to prepare for a disaster. “Do you have what is necessary to shelter in place?” asked Crime Prevention Specialist Kery German. “Do you know what you should take if you are evacuating? Being properly prepared for an emergency is a must for everyone.” “With Palmdale being so close to the San Andreas Fault line, and as we have seen with past fires and floods, being prepared is very important for our residents,” German said. “While each individual’s needs and personal situations are unique, everyone can take steps to prepare for an emergency,” added German. “And always remember, it’s never too early to prepare, but it can be too late.” For more information please call 661/267-5170. - 30 - Communications Department • 38300 Sierra Highway • Palmdale, CA 93550 www.CityofPalmdale.org
