Art Classes for Kids Offered by City of Palmdale PALMDALE – The City of Palmdale’s recreation and culture department is offering two new art courses for kids in April. Kids' Masterworks: Abstract Painting (course 9343) will be held on Thursdays from April 5 to April 26 from 4:30 to 6 pm at Legacy Commons, 930 E. Ave. Q-9. Students will be introduced to the abstract art period, with a brief history and techniques to guide them to create their own abstract art. Kids' Masterworks: Cartoons-Sequential Art (course 9836), is designed for kids 6 to 14 years old, and will be held on Thursdays from May 3 to May 24 from 4:30 to 6 pm at Legacy Commons. Students will design a character, have it interact with an environment or another character, and create a three panel cartoon strip with a theme. Both classes are designed for kids ages 6 to 14. The fee for each class is discounted to $35 for Palmdale residents and is $43.75 for non-residents. There is also a $25 materials fee payable to the instructor.
