SCHEDULE: Friday, December 1 – Bilingual Storytime, Palmdale City Library, 10 am. Stories and songs in English and Spanish with Miss Maria. All ages. Saturday, December 2 – Santa’s Wonderland, Palmdale Playhouse, 10 am to 2 pm. Delight in the magic of the season at the Palmdale Playhouse! Santa Claus parks his sleigh in the lobby to take holiday wishes and a picture to remember with young and old alike. Relax and enjoy complimentary refreshments. Saturday, December 2 – Dog Walker Watch, Yellen Dog Park, 5100 E. Avenue S, 8 – 10 am. Join public safety staff and law enforcement for coffee, donuts and dog treats and get information on how to report suspicious activity, graffiti and other issues you may see while out walking your pet. Free raffle for the first 20 residents to arrive. Saturday, December 2 – Singalong with Santa, Palmdale Playhouse, 6 pm. Santa’s elves will help kids handcraft a special keepsake ornament to take home and hang on the tree and help them write a letter to Santa. Attendees will then join elf hosts Figgy & Sugar Plum, Santa and The Sunday Night Singers for an interactive singalong in the theatre. Tickets are Sunday, December 3 – Palmdale Junior Ballet and Theater Dance present The Magical Toyshop & Step into Christmas, Palmdale Playhouse, 2 and 7 pm. The Magical Toyshop is a merry one-act ballet that tells the story of a family that stumbles upon a toyshop with toys and dolls country maids, tin soldiers, clowns, cancan dancers, queens and Cossacks. The ---PAGE BREAK--- magic begins when the toys come to life! Palmdale Theatre Dance will Step Into Christmas to “Silent Night,” “Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer,” and “Winter Wonderland.” Tickets are $12 for adults, and $10 for students, seniors, military and children 12 and under. Monday, December 4 – PATH Assistance, Palmdale City Library, 1-3 pm. PATH (People Assisting the Homeless) will provide referral services to those who need it. Tuesday, December 5 – Palmdale City Council Meeting, Palmdale Council Chamber, 38330 Sierra Hwy. Suite B, 7 pm. Tuesday, December 5 - Housing Rights Legal Clinic with Neighborhood Legal Services, 9 am – 12 pm at SAVES, 1002 E Ave Q-12. The NLS team provides free assistance to individuals and families dealing with fair housing, unsafe conditions, mobile home residency law, loan modification, fraud, consumer debt, Section 8 legal problems and landlord/ tenant problems. The meeting of the Friends of the Palmdale City Library, an organization devoted to helping support the Library. Thursday, December 7 – Coffee with a Cop – TBD, 9:30-10:30 am. Thursday, December 7 - SAVES “Non-Express Registration.” SAVES will take sign-ups from 9 am – 4 pm for Christmas baskets and toys. This is for Palmdale residents who are not yet signed-up as clients or current SAVES clients who have not yet signed up for a Christmas basket. Relive the story of George Bailey who never got the chance to fulfill his dream of exploring the world and building While his friends and family have left town or become successful, he soldiered on at home, running his father’s building and loan business successfully, much to the chagrin of the town’s richest man. When a financial emergency threatens George and the entire town, he contemplates a bitter end until an unlikely friend teaches him an important lesson. Tickets are $15 general admission. Friday, December 15 – West Coast Classical Flute Choir, Saxophone Choir, Wind Ensemble and String Orchestra present Making Spirits Bright, Palmdale Playhouse, 7:30 pm. This concert of holiday tunes will delight the audience with “An American Christmas” featuring jazzy toy soldiers, rockin’ merry gents, and much more. Deliciously sinister music from The Nightmare Before Christmas by composer Danny Elfman will also be featured. A unique offering for the season, the music will also include “Overture,” “Christmas Eve Montage,” and “Sally’s Song.” Tickets are $15 for adults, and $10 for seniors and children 12 and under. Saturday, December 16 – West Coast Classical Flute Choir, Saxophone Choir, Wind Ensemble and String Orchestra present Sounds of the Holidays, Palmdale Playhouse, 7:30 pm. A concert full of holiday spirit as they perform favorite classics with a featured piece, “Harp Concerto” by George Frideric Handel. Tickets are $15 for adults, and $10 for seniors and children 12 and under. Saturday, December 16 – American Classic Christmas, 6 – 9 pm, Poncitlán Square. Free. Featuring the Coca-Cola Café with refreshments and a visit from Coke’s polar bear, the reading of "The Night Before Christmas" by Mayor Jim Ledford, community caroling, The Tehachapi Mountain Pipes and Drums band, musicians and vocalists performing Christmas music, and a visit from Old St. Nick.
