This is a new opportunity for us to reach out to our community and keep you connected on what’s happening in your city. We’ll cover events, programs, construction, legislation — just about everything that impacts your life and makes Palmdale a great place to live, work and play. If you have any topics you want us to cover, or have any questions, feel free to contact us at communications@ cityofpalmdale.org. Twilight Tours, Extended Hours on Tap for Joe Davies Heritage Airpark 2018 brings some exciting changes to the Joe Davies Heritage Airpark at Palmdale Plant 42, located at 2001 E. Ave. P. Additional Twilight Tours will be held on June 21, July 19 and Aug. 16. Park visitation hours are being extended this year. From June 1 through Aug. 31 the new hours are: Tuesdays through Thursdays from 10 am to 2 pm; and Fridays through Sundays from 9 am to 2 pm. The Airpark is closed Mondays and major holidays. Admission and parking are free. Part one began on Saturday, May 12, with Mayor Jim Ledford, SAVES Coordinator Patricia Morales and Community Programs Coordinator Trish Jones cheering on local letter carriers who, as part of their daily routes, gathered donated food items for the 26th consecutive Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive. They returned later that day to SAVES, as staff and a plethora of community volunteers helped unload the food. A "swish" is a process that fills the cracks and levels the surface, resulting in a cost-effective way to get an additional five to seven years of service out of the road.
