WHERE: Palmdale Transportation Center, 39000 Clock Tower Plaza Drive WHO: Officials from the City of Palmdale and Antelope Valley Air Quality Management District (AVAQMD). BACKGROUND: In 2017, Palmdale City staff applied and was approved for funding through Southern California Edison’s (SCE) Charge Ready Program to receive electric infrastructure at the Palmdale Transportation Center to provide for the installation of six dual-port level two electric vehicle charging stations that allow for up to 12 vehicles to charge at one time. The program also provided a rebate of the costs of the charging units to the City. SCE’s Charge Ready Program was created to deploy electric infrastructure to serve the electric vehicle needs in SCE’s service areas. The City also received grant funding from AVAQMD to cover project costs not covered by SCE. Work on the project began late December 2017 and was completed in April 2018. The units operate through EV Connect and are accessible to the general public by down loading the app on their smart phones to connect and pay to charge their vehicles.
