FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE CITY OF PALMDALE NEWS RELEASE CONTACT: John Mlynar PHONE: 661/267-5115 DATE: August 29, 2018 Updated Hours of Operation Announced for Joe Davies Heritage Airpark PALMDALE – The City of Palmdale’s Joe Davies Heritage Airpark at Palmdale Plant 42, located at 2001 Ave. P, has updated its hours of operation. Beginning Friday, Sept. 1, the Airpark will be open Fridays through Sundays from 11 am to 4 pm, excluding major holidays and inclement weather. The park is closed on Monday through Thursday. Admission and parking are free. Coming this fall will be a special free guided Full Moon Airpark Tour on Wednesday, Oct. 24. The park will be open from 6 to 11 pm, with the tour beginning at 8 pm. “Pack up a picnic dinner and take the family for a unique night out under the stars!” said Palmdale’s Director of Recreation and Culture Keri Smith. “Enjoy the aircraft displays under the light of the full moon on our free guided tour and celebrate Palmdale’s rich aerospace heritage.” The airpark’s picnic tables and BBQs are available, first-come, first served. About Joe Davies Heritage Airpark Joe Davies Heritage Airpark at Palmdale Plant 42 is a family friendly, uniquely Palmdale destination centered around displays of aircraft that portray the rich aerospace heritage and present the historical significance of United States Air Force Plant 42 in a way that generates pride among residents and prestige among peers. Visitors to Joe Davies Heritage Airpark may view a collection of aircraft flown, tested, designed, produced or modified at United States Air Force Plant 42. The airpark includes 21 retired military aircraft on static display, plus a 1/8 scale model of the B-2 Spirit, an AGM-28 Hound Dog Missile, a B-52, a C-46, and various aircraft components. When fully developed, the airpark will showcase over 40 retired military and civilian aircraft.
