FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE CITY OF PALMDALE NEWS RELEASE CONTACT: John Mlynar PHONE: 661/267-5115 DATE: April 11, 2018 Third Annual Book Festival/ARTown Celebrates Literature and the Arts Book Signings, Live Music and High Desert Obedience Featured PALMDALE – The Palmdale City Library and Legacy Commons for Active Seniors will host the third Annual Palmdale Book Festival & ARTown Fusion, a celebration of literacy and artistic culture for all ages, on Saturday, April 28 from 12 noon to 3 pm at Legacy Commons and Legacy Park, located at 930 E. Ave. Q-9 in Palmdale. This event will feature the works of local artists and authors that will be available for viewing and purchase, books for purchase from Barnes and Noble and the Friends of the Palmdale City Library, food, crafts and STEM workshops, a talk on how to get published, stories for kids, Izzy’s Taco House food truck, book readings, stories for kids, live music, High Desert Obedience Club Pet Pals therapy dogs, face painting and other activities. “We’re really looking forward to this!” said Library Director Robert Shupe. “We’ve got something for everyone – art, books, crafts, music, food and more!” There is still time for local artists to apply to have their art showcased at the event. Interested artists need to fill out an application (available at www.cityofpalmdale.org) and either mail or hand deliver to: Legacy Commons for Active Seniors, 930 East Avenue Q-9 Palmdale, CA 93550. The deadline to apply is Wednesday, April 11. Artists will be contacted to confirm that they have been selected to participate and at that time will be given specific details regarding what time they may arrive to set-up their art.
