PAHRUMP ARENA ADVISORY COMMITTEE DRAFT MINUTES June 09, 2022 Pursuant to NRS, a meeting of the Pahrump Arena Advisory Committee was held on June 09, 2022 at 7:00pm at the Board of County Commissioners Chambers. 1. Pledge of Allegiance and Call to Order 7:00pm, Cody C. called meeting to order; Pledge spoken. 2. Roll Call Michelle C, Cody C, Scot T, Darius M, Steve C, Steve P, Jimmy Martinez, Debbie Pastorelli, Commissioner Strickland, Kayla Ball, Cody Panero, Tim Bohannon. 3. GENERAL PUBLIC COMMENT (Three-minute time limit per person.) Action will not be taken on the matters considered during this period until specifically included on an agenda as an action item (first). Kayla Ball & Cody Panero expressed concern for the quality of the Fall Fest Rodeo based on their negative experience attending the Jim Butler Days Rodeo in Tonopah NV 4. Approval of the Agenda for June 09, 2022. Scot made a motion to approve, Michelle second, all in favor. 5. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation of minutes of the Pahrump Arena Advisory Committee meeting of April 14, 2022. Scot T made a motion to approve, Cody second, all in favor. 6. Announcements (first) PVRR is changing all future dates to share with NWHF Jimmy says arena will be closed to the public July 1 through July 6 for set up and clean up for the annual Town of Pahrump Independence Day celebration. 7. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation of any new Arena Reservations. No new reservations. 8. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation regarding the Fairgrounds. Commissioner Strickland informed PAAC that there are funds earmarked for the community center and would like to see more information on a new arena facility in order to begin researching ways to fund that project. 9. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation regarding extra lighting for stock pens. ---PAGE BREAK--- PAHRUMP ARENA ADVISORY COMMITTEE DRAFT MINUTES June 09, 2022 Jimmy updated that due to the rising cost of permanent lighting and extra engineering fees to install new poles, he recommends the purchase of a mobile light plant. The purchase would come out of the general buildings and grounds budget. Steve P. suggested mounting a solar light similar to the ones the City of North Las Vegas uses on their streetlights. He will email Jimmy the information. 10. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation regarding the purchase of a de- rocking machine. Michelle to contact Horseman’s Park to set up an appointment for PAAC members to view it working 11. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation regarding arena fixes. Power to announcers stand still not working. A generator is still being provided to power announcing equipment. Jimmy says Avena Electric has been given a deadline. 12. Committee Comments (This item limited to announcements or topics/issues proposed for future workshops/agendas) Michelle suggested that PAAC develop a template for future bidding process for events hosted by the Town of Pahrump or Nye County. 13. General Public Comment (second). Kayla Ball & Cody Panero request Jimmy M. & Commissioner Strickland please look into the quality of the producer contracted for Fall Fest Rodeo. Tim Bohannon introduced himself as a contact for the proposed Harness Racing facility. 14. Announcements (second). None. 15. ADJOURNMENT Scot T. motions to adjourn, Darius M. seconds, all in favor.
